Hexton School

We currently have spaces in all years, Reception right through to Year 6 ( 4 - 11 years). We welcome children from all surrounding towns and villages.

Hexton JMI is a small rural village school where staff, parents, governors and children work hard to promote high standards. We all believe that for children to achieve their full potential they need a secure, safe, happy environment and this is what we aim to provide. We offer a rich and varied curriculum and make full use of the beautiful local countryside. Due to the school's small size we get to know every child as an individual and concentrate on making the most of every talent. We aim to exemplify traditional values and work closely with parents to this end. We are proud of our school and welcome any enquiries or visits.

The OFSTED inspection of the school was carried out in October 2009. The following are some of the highlights from the report, a full copy of which can be downloaded from the link below.
"This is a good school where pupils progress well."
"The headteacher’s quest for high quality teaching and the promotion of equal opportunities is evident in the continual review of classroom practice."
"Pupils’ strong personal outcomes can be seen in their exceptionally good behaviour, interest and enjoyment of learning."
"Well-informed and sensitive support ensures pupils feel safe in a supportive learning environment, enhanced by warm relationships between staff and pupils."
"There is well planned intervention for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities. The success of this support leads to particularly good progress."

"Pupils say that they like coming to school because they feel very well cared for, safe and enjoy the friendly atmosphere."
"Pupils’ thoughtful behaviour is an outstanding factor in their successful learning and ensures that lessons are very orderly and productive."
"One parent’s comments illustrated a particular strength: ‘It caters for the individual needs of each child and allows them to achieve their potential."
